Day 220 – A Picture A Day While My Soldier’s Away

I noticed this tree when we first moved here nearly a year and a half ago.  I loved it from the moment I saw it.   I thought to myself, “I want to take a picture of that tree” at least a dozen times.  I’ve passed it by on the side of the road over and over again without slowing, thinking next time I’ll take a picture.  I love that it’s weathered and battered – and yet still standing as if in defiance.

On the way home from Nashville today, I was thinking about all of the things in my life that I’ve put off and procrastinated.  I pondered the priorities that I mixed up because I was trying to do too much instead of finding peace in the quiet.  I decided to change and I finally stopped.  It was cold… REALLY cold.  It was sleeting.  I stood there – weathered and battered.  Defiant.  I finally took the picture.

  1. I agree its a beautiful picture. Life can be like that tree it can get old and weathered but yet some of us still stand with definace. No matter what happens in our lives we stand strong. I love this picture 🙂

  2. Beautiful picture…the framing of this tree is outstanding. I’m bad about procrastinating too and it has resulted in my missing tons of photo opportunities because I thought…Oh, I can do that later. Way to seize the moment!
