Day 247 – A Picture A Day While My Soldier’s Away

Only a military wife would truly understand this picture.   For the duration of this year, Kylie has associated my laptop with Daddy.  If we’re not Skyping with Daddy {with or without a video feed}, then we’re typing with Daddy.  There is such a strong correlation between the laptop and Daddy, that it is nearly impossible to do any computer work when Kylie is around because surely Daddy must be in there somewhere.  We were able to Skype with Kyle today, which was an unexpected, wonderful surprise.  At one point, I walked away and let the two of them have some much needed Daddy/Daughter time.  Kylie sang him songs and they told knock-knock jokes, while laughing together hysterically.  {They share the quirkiest sense of humor}.  The conversation ended with a big hug and kiss – I felt the tears welling up in my eyes.  I’m not quite sure if they were tears of joy that they were able to have this moment together, or tears of sadness that they can’t really HAVE that moment together right now.  I suppose it was a mixture of the two…

  1. I so understand the feeling….the best thing is that with technology today we can have those moments even when they can’t be face to face they can still be together!

  2. You brought me to tears when I read this the first time and you got me again when I reread. What a very special daddy-daughter date! I agree…it is heartbreaking that Kyle and Kylie can’t share those moments in person right now but I know that when they do get to have that time together it will make it that much more special.

The “kiss” picture needs an award!
