Watch Me Grow – Then & Now with ‘Kenzie, Newborn and 4 months!

I don’t know about you, but I’m a before and after junkie!  Being a highly visual person, I’m always drawn to images documenting growth, change, or just the progress of life.  As you can imagine, I tend to be pretty fascinated when my itty-bitty newborn baby clients come back for their 4 month, 8 month, or first birthday portraits.  It never occurred to me that maybe YOU would enjoy the comparisons as well, until McKenzie came along for her 4 month portraits.  I will make it a point to share more of the “then & now” updates so that you all can enjoy watching the babies grow too!

McKenzie was such a sweet, beautiful little newborn girl!  These were my two favorite images from her newborn portrait session:

newborn baby girl with princess tiara and her frogsmiling newborn baby girl with her Daddy's Army uniform and dogtags

And here she was at her 4 month baby session – I just adore how her smile is exactly the same!  She’s even more beautiful now that shes batting her baby blues too.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do, because I have plenty more to share.  Thanks for following along and sharing too!

Meet The Triplets! Fort Campbell, KY Newborn Triplet Photographer

Here is a sneak peek at my first triplet newborn babies!  These little angels were welcomed as a big surprise by an enlisted military family with three previous children.  Besides recently doubling their family size, they are facing a military relocation in a week as well.  There is a need for help in this huge transition this family is enduring.  If you are local and would like to donate diapers, clothes, gift cards, baby gear, etc – please contact me to arrange a drop-off within the next week.  If you would prefer to donate via PayPal, you may do that as well by following this link:  DONATE HERE.  I will be giving the family all the funds raised before they move to their next duty station.  I appreciate all of your support, thanks so much everyone!

Beautiful Simplicity | Newborn Photographer

Newborn portraits are my favorite!  I just adore brand new, precious infants willing to be sleepily posed for the sake of a portrait to last a lifetime.  Typically, my newborn sessions take place in my home studio with a plethora of props, soft blankets, delicate headbands, baskets and decor.  I work with an octobox studio light, my speedlight, and reflectors to achieve the look that matches my style.  It’s all a process and I love it!

While visiting Florida, I was asked to take portraits of my friends’ brand new baby girl.  I wholeheartedly agreed because it’s what I love the most, however, I didn’t have any of my equipment with me besides my camera!  {GASP}.  I attempted to take the bull by the horns on this issue anyway by setting up near a window for some beautiful natural light.  I threw a couple of couch pillows on the floor and draped a blanket from the top of changing table {via hair clips} and down over the pillows.  Voila.  That was my “set”.  This was completely out of my element, yet the images are some of my favorites ever.

Ellie smiled nearly the whole time and her mommy even brought a little headband for her to wear.  I was able to still give them the style of newborn portraits they were seeking and that made my day.  I realized then that limitations are usually set by us when we don’t feel equipped.  It’s up to us to break them down and keep it simple!

Welcome Home Jaxon! Fort Campbell Newborn Photographer

My very first time being hired as a photographer was on May 3rd, 2011.  Although I spent months learning, researching, shadowing, and experimenting after I received my first DSLR in February, it wasn’t until May that I got paid.  I was ecstatic – someone liked me and my work enough to pay me to photograph their welcome home ceremony reuniting their family after a year long deployment.  It was very surreal to me.

I wrote about that memorable first session of mine here:  Heartfelt Homecoming  although I think this is the first time I’m announcing that it was technically the first time I got paid.  I thoroughly enjoyed welcoming home a soldier and celebrating with the Major family as they became one big happy family again.  I felt honored to be capturing these memories for them and blessed to be able to call this “work”.

Fast forward to February and I was able to spend quality time with the Major family again.  This time they brought their new addition to their family – Jaxon – for those priceless newborn portraits that everyone loves.  I was tickled pink holding him and even more so when I saw his older brother and how much he had grown since last May.  My heart smiled as soon as I realized that this family started my journey last year and kept it going strong this year.  Thank you<3

Watch Me Grow! Fort Campbell Maternity & Newborn Photographer

I have thoroughly enjoyed the influx of maternity and newborn portraits lately.  The glow of a pregnant woman beaming with life is a miracle that begs to be captured.  I love the faces of the family about to gain a new member and I just adore the little ones tickled pink with the pending older sibling title.  Like many moments in life that we want to remember, pregnancy is temporary.  I am always honored to be included in the memory making with maternity portraits.

Newborn portraits are a favorite of mine.  Another fleeting moment;  another miracle happening before my eyes.  Being a part of a child’s very first portrait session is a very special opportunity – I am truly grateful for all of the parents who have chosen me to fill this role.

Even better than a maternity or newborn portrait session is BOTH!  I get to revel in the beauty of belly full of life while comparing the features of the family members as I watch them beam with pride.  I am blessed beyond belief to be able to see the baby within a week of birth while capturing the memories of this bonding family.  I love comparing newborn noses to mom and dad’s nose and playing the guessing game.

Here are some images from my most recent maternity and newborn combo – such a beautiful family with a brand new baby boy.  I have enjoyed marking these moments and milestones for this newly expanded family.

Thank you for supporting me and referring me!
